An inspiring evening to conclude the 2025 edition of Desjardins Youth at Work
Last Monday, August 25, the closing ceremony for the Desjardins – Youth at Workprogram was held at the Adrienne DeMontigny-Clément Library in Pointe-des-Cascades. This summer, 18 young people had the opportunity to gain valuable first work experience thanks to this project, which returns annually in collaboration with the Caisse Desjardins de Vaudreuil-Soulanges.
Hosted by Cinthia Bourgon, career development advisor at CJE Vaudreuil-Soulanges, the evening brought together not only the young participants but also their parents and the 16 participating businesses, all proud to have welcomed and mentored the next generation throughout the summer.
The event was filled with gratitude and inspiration. In her speech, Cinthia shared a quote from Rudy Humbert, General Manager of the Regroupement des Carrefours jeunesse-emploi du Québec, which perfectly encapsulates the spirit of the program:
« For young people to continue believing that tomorrow will be better than yesterday, we must give them a real place in our decisions. We must listen to them, believe in them, and trust them. Youth does not ask for permission to exist. It asks for the space to build. Let's give them what they deserve: a full and complete place in the present, so they can build the future. »
A message that highlights the importance of encouraging and valuing young people as they take their first steps into the workforce.
